FAQs
WHAT DOES A GUIDED SPITZKOPPE SUMMIT INVOLVE?
1
The standard Spitzkoppe summit programme takes two days. Day one uses single-pitch climbing to assess movement, confidence and fitness. Day two is a demanding approximately 12-hour objective combining about six pitches of climbing with hiking and scrambling to the true summit. An optional summit sleep can be arranged. Final route and timing depend on the participants and conditions.
WHAT EXPERIENCE AND FITNESS DO I NEED?
2
Tell Climb Away honestly about your hiking, scrambling and climbing experience before booking. The true Spitzkoppe summit is a long, exposed technical objective and requires sustained fitness; the first day also helps confirm suitability. New climbers can start with guided single-pitch climbing near Windhoek or easier climbing at Spitzkoppe before progressing to a summit objective.
WHAT IS INCLUDED, AND WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
3
Guided climbing includes general technical climbing equipment, a first-aid kit, and the permits and documentation required for the activity. Bring suitable outdoor clothing, sun protection, water, food and personal medication. Accommodation, meals and transport are not included unless specifically arranged. Climbing shoes, sizing and any specialist personal equipment should be confirmed with Climb Away before the trip.
